Games and game tech for the web

GuraklGames is a one-person studio. I build an open-source engine for browser games, tools for classic racing-game resources, and games on top of them.

The Need For Speed Web

A browser replica of the original The Need for Speed (1994), rebuilt from scratch on GG Web Engine. The game is nearly complete and free to play: open the page and race, nothing to install. On Discord you can find people to race with, get help and talk to the developer.

  • Peer-to-peer multiplayer
  • Single race and race vs. AI
  • Runs in any modern browser
  • Free

Unofficial fan project. The Need for Speed is a trademark of Electronic Arts Inc. GuraklGames owns only the code of this replica and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by EA in any way.

EngineOpen sourceApache-2.0

GG Web Engine

A modular TypeScript engine for 2D and 3D games in the browser. Its strongest case: 2 to 8 players sharing one physics world over WebRTC, peer to peer, with no game server. Cars and character controllers are built in.

  • Pluggable rendering: Three.js or Pixi.js
  • Pluggable physics: Rapier, Ammo.js or Matter.js
  • Data-driven levels and a Blender exporter
  • Strict TypeScript, reactive RxJS API
ToolOpen sourceWindows · macOS

TailsLab

Editor, converter and byte-level specs for the file formats of classic Need for Speed games (1 to 9), from The Need for Speed to Most Wanted. Formerly NFS Resources Converter, it also keeps the most complete public documentation of TNFS SE file formats.

  • Converts models, images, audio, video and fonts
  • Desktop app to view and edit resources (Linux: from source)
  • Format docs generated from the parsers
  • Feeds the assets of TNFS Web

Founder and engineer of GuraklGames

Solution Architect in an IT company

I love making games as much as I love playing them, and I always try to build something I would enjoy myself. Lately that means the engine and tools underneath the games, so the games can be made properly.

Principles

  1. 01One link awayOpen a page and play. No installers, no launchers.
  2. 02Shared knowledgeWhat I figure out goes back out: open code and documented formats.
  3. 03Finish what I startFewer projects, carried all the way to playable.
